I put an old Weaver 2.5 scope on a Browning .22 I have with integral dovetail grooves in it and tried it out the other day while on a hunting trip and after bore sighting it, took some shots. I got the elevation right but it still shoots about 8-inches too far to the right and the dial on the scope is turned all the way over.

Depending on the type of rings that you used, might want to swap one left to right (reverse it). You'll end up with one cross bolt nut on the left and one on the right, but there might be that much alignment error in the rings. Would be a trial and error deal - might require the front or rear reversed, or may even both (the last not likely).
