I recently bought a set of Talley's lightweight one piece scope base/mounts for my Savage long action. When I went to mount my scope on the rifle I found that the span between the taps in the reciever did not leave any room for adjustment of the scope position and the magnification adjustment ring on the scope was bottoming out on the exposed portion of the base.
I know a simple fix would be to get higher rings, or the extended base version but these options do not allow for the nickel finish I wanted for the project.
Could I grind down the base a little giving some clearance for the adjustment ring?
