I am looking for a scope for my AR180B, . I am going to be using it for target shooting and possibly tac. rifle matches, so I am looking for something with quick target aquisition. I was thinking of either a red-dot such as an aimpoint or a compact low-powered scope (such as a leupold mark 4 CQ/T but not as expensive), I prefer crosshairs but am also considering red-dot, any opinions?

Thanks.

I use the Leupold Mk 4 1.5-5 scope. The illuminated model with special purpose reticle works like a red dot at low powers, and at 5x the optics are good enough for 500m target work.

Sry, forgot to say under $300.00, but that bushnell does look pretty good, I think it's either that or an aimpoint but I like the look and the reticle of the bushnell better, I will take a look into that, do you think wholesale or wolverine would be able to get one in?

EDIT: Do you think it would mount onto a mil-spec rail?

If your budget is under $300 I would seriously consider staying with iron sights, at least until you can purchase quality.
If you are considering a red-dot type of sight I'm guessing you are shooting no further than +/- 200m in which case I would recommend an eotech.

Put me down as another proponent of quality glass :D I just picked up an Acog TAO1 NSN and Leupold Mk4 MR/T 1.5x5 for my Stag15. You won't go wrong with quality and it holds it's resale value too ;) :D

What about a used fixed power, or variable power compact or normal scope(leupold, burris ect)?, Should be able to pick something up for under $300 on the EE here? I have a rear arms #40 BUIS, anyone have pictures of how a plain scope would fit over that?

why don't you try a Walmart bushnell scope? I have one on my 10/22 for under $90. It was not specified that it was for a 223, so I assume it would be fine.

there's a world of difference between a center fire scope and a rimfire- you can use a centerfire scope on a rim but not vice versa due to the eye relief and other factors- from your price point, i would venture you've got a centerfire- stick a rim fire on a centerfire rifle and you'll get what they call scope eyebrow

You're not going to get an eotech or an aimpoint on that budget either.

Use your irons and save until you can get something good. In the meantime, shamelessly ask to look through every scope you see on the range, especially those on black rifles. Ask the owneres how they like their choice and why. This will help you when you later justify the purchase of many different QUALITY optics at thousands of dollars cost...enjoy:)

I'm just looking for a decent scope right now, in the near future I think I will be purchasing another black rifle, and would rather spend more cash on it rather than the AR180B, so I don't think I will be purchasing a leupold or anything too expensive for it, rather save the money for the next rifle, btw how much are acog's?

Thanks.

What scope would you suggest for a 11.5 inch barrelled AR15? My friend already has an aimpoint on her ... but I'd like to try something with crosshairs on it?(I'm looking at possibly purchasing his AR15 ;) )

p.s. how is this MR/T 1.5 X 5 Leupold like to look thru?

gorgeous, and with the ridiculous price you paid for your swiss arms, you can afford it.

HAHA ... JL, would this be a good scope/fit for a 11.5 inch AR15? Cost of Leupold scope? Dealer of scope? Thank you very much,

I guess. I tried magnified optics (acog) on an sbr but didn't really see the point, more of a red dot sorta thing. That said, I doubt there is anyone that bought the leupold and wasn't happy. I'm sure there are others that have more experience scoping an sbr than me. I know KevinB had a S&B short dot on his shorty LMT once (for a few minutes before it stopped working;) :D ) and that would seem to be the best of both worlds.

You can get a leupold from Hunters Sporting Goods in Surrey BC. PM sparrow, he works there. Price should be about $1200.00.

Cheers,
