Scope for CZ452

If you poke around in the US sites, Leupold and Nikon are about equal in sales-something like 40%ea. Still although Leupold has good glass and excellent service in Canada (which seems to be the big deal with them) it is doubtful their glass will ever be as good never mind better than Nikon. Dont get me wrong-I own both and have a newer VXIII on my Ruger 30-06. Still putting a 12 or 14x on a rimfire that has an effective range of 100 yards is a little silly and can cost more than the rifle. Aside from that the VX series is not designed for rimfire. Basically if you cant see it with a 4x you likely cant either hit it or kill it. Mind you I have only been using 22s since 1965 so what do I know eh? There is no logic in putting an expensive centrefire scope on a rimfire. Aside from the focal length thing. My $0.02 .

Man... you need to explore the world of rimfire. Take a read on Rimfire Central and look at some of the gun and scopes. Rimfire rifles are not only used in dusty gopher pastures and not all are toppped with cheap 4x scopes. Target shooters can have 40x scopes that costs thousands.
You say the VX series is not for rimfires?? Leupold has the VX II 3-9x33 EFR Rimfire, designed especially for rimfire shooters, take a look on there website.
You also think a .22 is only effective to 100 yards?? Maybe try 300 or 400 yards.

Anyone use a Sightron?

I recently got a nice deal on the EE for a NIB Sightron SIIB 4.5-14x44 with mildots, side-focus, target turrets, and 60 MOA adjustment. I have it mounted with burris sig zee rings on a 10/22 I bought from my brother, which has a butler creek 20" heavy barrel and a hogue stock.

Granted, the scope is probably worth something like 1.5x the value of the rifle. But like other posters have said, it's fun to shoot 22 rifles a lot, and at small and/or distant targets. Last time at the range I was banging the 200 yd gong with ease (23.5 MOA up from 50 yd zero with dynapoints). It's so much fun watching the bullets arc into target! Next time I'll see if I can work out the come-up to hit the 300 yd gong. Additionally, this rifle (with the Sightron and earlier scopes) has always been a favorite with new shooters, so it's nice to have a clear, easy to see through scope so that the newbies enjoy shooting it.

The scope itself is quite nice and clear. Additionally, another thing about the Sightron I found great was the side-focus range. The specs say down to 10 yds, but it definitely goes down to 5 yds. For comparison, I also have a bushnell 4200 6-24x40 with a side-focus that specs say goes down to 25 yds, and it really isn't usable closer than 20 yds.

I was going to buy a VXII 4-12 AO for my CZ453. m39a2 was working at the gunshop today and showed me a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40SF. I found the glass to be as clear as the Leupold and it had side focus, can focus parallax down to 50 yards...which most 'rimfire scopes' are parallaxed around there. I bought that scope instead of the Leupold (love the side focus) and was surprised it cost only half of what the Leupold cost.

Anyone use a Sightron?

I mounted a Sightron 6-24 x 42 Siilhouette model on my CZ452. It's big, but, I use the gun for silhouette, so, perfect really. I moved my VXII target onto my model seven.

If you ever try silhouette you'll find big scopes are par for the course.

I have a 4200 6X24 on my CZ452. Some might call it overkill but I used to dabble in the silhouette game and figure that the rifle I do the most shooting with should be the one with the best glass.

Its also fun to amaze people when you can pick out the gopher that ran into the grass where they can't see it with a less clear scope. :D Just look for their shiny little eye and pretend its a tiger in the elephant grass.

Got a CZ452 Saturday. Went to my local gun store for some rings and a scope.
I had some med Millet rings already and wanted to stick with them if I could??
We tried a bunch of scopes on the CZ with the Millet Med rings.
There were alot of scopes that did not clear the bolt or were touching the barrel.
Was not sure what scope I wanted so just went home and put on my Vortex Viper 4x12x40PA with the Millet Med rings.
Going to try this out for a bit then get a scope with more power.
