Hey guys, Im going to be buying a Norinco M4, i was wondering if anyone has any recommendations, under $200? I will be eventually buying a Ruger SR-22 as well so i guess down the road i will need 2 scopes, not sure if people share scopes between rifles.

I was looking at this Vortex Strikefire http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-strikefire-red-dot-scope-for-ar15 but for the same price, i can get two of these (one for each rifle) http://www.matchstickglobal.com/product_info.php?cPath=37_38&products_id=262. Is the Vortex that much better?

I was wondering if just shooting at the range, i should get a red dot or go for some kind of scope, i just wonder if i would want magnification. I think with the Vortex, it comes with a screw on 2x magnifier.

I would assume i would need the extra high mount option, and it would just work stock with the rifle?

Any suggestions would be very much welcomed.

thanks guys

I have a Strike-fire that I picked up last year. The quality of Vortex scopes is astounding for the price.

It comes standard with the extra-high 30mm mount, and is very solid for an aluminum mount. It co-witnesses with the front sight on the AR, and is easily mounted. I tried it out on my Mini-14 with an aftermarket rail. It worked well but was a bit high for the Mini-14.

I will be mounting it on my CQ-A Norinco when it arrives.

I don’t know much about the other sight, but if it comes out of the USA you will have to deal with ITAR, where as the Vortex are sold in Canada.

thanks for the response brokenpine. I figured the Vortex was good, i haven't read anything bad about it. So i just need the AR version (the high mount), not the low mount right?

I was just at Walmart and they have the $50 Tasco Red dot, probably not very good, just wasn't sure how much better a $150 scope would be.

The other scope is out of Hong Kong.
