I need some help. I just bought a M1A and I would like to put a decent to great scope on it. I checked out the optics section on CGN and there is quite a variety. Should I go with Bushnell super elite 4200 3.5 X10 or a Leupold Mark iv or maybe a Zeiss or Nightforce. I am a firm believer in value--- you get what you pay for. I only want to have to buy it once. I will be using the rifle for informal target shooting. I like to shoot the long distances too like 500yds+

Also could someone recommend the best mount available and where to get one?

Thanks,

Duncan

I see Skullboy using the Leupold scopes on his rifles. Perhaps a PM to him would help you.

That being said, you really can't go wrong with Leupold, Nightforce, or any of the high end rifle scopes. Yes you do get what you pay for.

How's this for an answer, I have owned a few norc's with mild tuning and putting a GI FG stock I have been able to do lsss than 1.5 moa, and that with optics can reach well over the 600m mark. I have built a few ground up medium and heavy match rifles that were sub moa...rifles. With Nightforce and Leupold's mounted on them......in the right hands (not mine) I know for a fact that I'd be toast at the receiving end if I were 900m out.

I've shot my Leupold LR/T 6.5 x 20 x 50mm Mildot up to 800 yards with fabulous results, I was able to keep up to the bolt gunners, well maybe a little out of the Vbull, but still in the bull.

At 600 yards, I was shooting on par with my M700 VSF. Same scores and same trajectories. I was shooting the 155 gr. Palma bullet molycoated.

The originator of this thread is intending to use a Super match, this rifle will have a tuned trigger and factory NM Douglas or Hart barrel. This rifle will be shooting into .75 with great regularity. With the the right bullet and velocity, I would not show my fat old, physically challenged ass within 800 yards of this rifle if I was a perp.

Pindar if you make your mind up on a Leupold Mark 4 scope give me a call at the shop as we have several models in stock including a few on sale. Phil.
