Slug Gun Scopes
I picked up a scope for my daughter's 20 ga for turkey hunting & like it so much it stays when the slug barrel goes on. It's a Tasco 1.5 or 2.5X x 32 with the turkey reticle ( duplex & circle ) & so far has worked like a trooper. Best of all it was cheap, under $50 used. We had a 4X on my brothers 12 ga & found it to be hard to find the target when you shoulder the shotgun - the smaller magnification or red dots you can track the target much easier with both eyes open. That's a real plus on a running deer or especially several running deer when the adrenaline starts flowing!
My brother and several others in our hunting group have had a couple of different makes & models of red dots, and they really like them. You just have to make sure to start with fresh batteries at the start of the week, and if it's really cold, make sure you've got spares handy. That's the only real downside of any electronic sight.
If the majority of shooting will be under 100 yards Truglo has the new Truglo Brite sight with 2 different colour & 5 reticle choices that might work for you. They're about $125 US, not sure if or where you can get them up here (saw it on Shooting USA )
Have you considered peep/ghost sights? I've never used them on a hunting rig but one of our group has them on most of his rifles/shotguns.
Everybody likes something different! Don't be scared to ask other hunters you know what they like/dislike. Hope this was of help to you & good luck. Tom
