I have a mint model 61 with a grooved reciever, this is one of the last winchester has made around 1962, I would like to installe a good scope that match the age of the gun. what do you suggest ?
Any of the brand name scopes of the period would be appropriate, a steel Weaver, or vintage Refield, Lyman, B&L, Leupold. Given that the 61 is a slender, light rifle, something with a 7/8" or 3/4" tube might be a good choice, rather than a 1" scope.

I have a neat old Weaver El Paso model B4, pretty much a straight tube 3/4 inch with a slightly larger area at the eye piece. There are some marks and scratches on the blued tube, should be just what you need. FS
