Any suggestions for a reasonably priced scope for the XCR to use with Varmint hunting? I would like an easy see reticle and 3-9power possibly.....actually I hardly varmint hunt at all. On my 10/22 I use a Bushnell sportsman,..but I find the crosshairs are not easy to see against darker background.....should I try an iluminated reticle variable power scope....? Would an armalite scope mount be acceptable....

I am thinking maximum 300yards....

you want a nightforce 2.5-10. It costs a mittfull(although still cheaper then some), but is sweet, and just over a pound. the crosshairs light up from off to way too bright, and anywhere in between, and at 10, it is clear enough to try clays at a good ways out there.

do you think the sportsman would do for now? I want a better scope,..but want to save for a nicer one.....

Unlike guns, with scopes you get exactly what you pay for. I'd buy the best scope you could afford.

The frustration of a crappy scope will live on longer than the lowest price is forgotten.

I was using a Elite3200 10x40. It was OK, but a quality variable (NF or Leupold) would have been better for what I was using the rifle for.

might get a Burris 3x9, I can't mount the Eotech a little farther forward on the rail, and only have to sight in the scope when I remove it.
