Scope help

Bogie:

I've shot my .30-06 with the 6-18x40SF Nikon Buckmasters on it a few times at the range already. All I can say is...WOW! I really like this scope. It has held up to the recoil of my handloads, holds zero very well, and the optics is clear straight through to the highest power setting. Very very good quality for the price that I paid for it.

Nikon's 3-9x40 Prostaff often goes for around $125 USD. I'm thinking about replacing the Leapers on my 10/22 with one of those, because the price is so good. PM me if you want details.

I am having a problem with the Bushnell 4200 4-16 I put on my Ruger no 1 223. Eye relief is too short and I have to crawl up the stock to see even with the stock shortened and pullback mounts on the scope. Gonna look into the Buckmaster if it works out better than the Bushie. Seems to me that the eye relief is real generous on my Prostaff so I will check this one out. Thanks for the idea.

From what I hear, the Prostaff and Buckmasters are very similar in specs, with the Buckmasters having a slight edge in field of view. What I do like about my Buckmasters is the semi-target style turrets. Cheers.

Bogie:

I just picked up a Nikon Buckmasters 6-18x40SF for my .30-06. I'll let you know how well it works. I would have bought from Reliable...but the Canadian MSRP for this scope is $469 + taxes, and I only paid $276 USD including shipping for the exact same scope brand new from a US authorized dealer.

I hear Nikon scopes are great, and I have a feeling I'll be picking up a couple more for my other rifles in the near future. :)

I have the same one (4.5-14) on my T3 .223 and really like it. It is very nice and clear.

Thanks guys- I will definitely check that one out. The Prostaff is gonna be sitting on a CZ452 leftie shortly and it might have a big brother soon. Gonna go down and do some serious checking at the dealer. He is the one turned me on to the Prostaff. Right in the price range I was looking for. If their higher up stuff is any better I might be replacing the 4200 too. Let you know how it settles out. Also seems to me the 4200 was more than that even from Wholesale. Hmmmm...
