Do you need one of these or are they just for cool factor. AS they do look nice and I guess it would allow you too keep the rifle from canting.
Does any one use these or have a pic and where could a guy get one ?
Thanks

All you need to level a scope is a small weight, a thick-ish thread and a level.
Use the level to make sure the rifle is horizontal and hang the weight from the thread to get your vertical. Look at the thread through the scope to align it.

Oh, you mean a scope anti-cant device? Unless you're doing benchrest or 600m+ precision shooting, I doubt you have a need for it.

It might make more sense on a rifle like the M305 or AR-15 where the scope is mounted quite high above the receiver so the effect of rotation is greater than if the scope were mounted closer to the receiver.

I have one of the "Anti - Cant" devices that is pictured above.

The farther the range, the more cant will affect your shot.

A 5 degree cant at 1000 yards translates into a miss on your target by approx. 5 feet.

I find the level great for setting up on uneven ground with a Bipod.

Canting isn't neccessarily a bad thing, as long as you cant the rifle consistantly. Some top shooters in the U.S. cant their rifles when shooting as it makes it more comfortable for them.As long as you do it the same every time, their is no problem. This is where the level comes in.

How do you check the cant when you are prone and looking through the scope?

I wonder if some wonderful scope manufacturer can embed a cant indicator into the reticle

I shoot with both eyes open and place the level where my left eye can see it.

I have been doing this for years and it works for me.

Springfield Armory had a level inside the reticle in one of their Tactical scopes. Can't remember which model, or if it is still offerd.

ah thanks guys that puts things into prospective here. So if they do not cost too much I think I will look into one. Does any one know where you would get a anti-cant device ?

That would be 2.5 ft miss at 500 yards and 1 and 3/4's at 250 yards Hmmm ...
