scope mount for Rem 783?

My brother just bought a 783 in 270 for his wife.
the guy at the store sold him weaver 48901 but the scope lean forward quite a bit, he also sold him a weaver 48035 and said he would probably need it???
it's not the same type of mount at all...

so what will he really need?
steel mount if possible

You have plenty of options....they will take 2 Rem 700 front bases but you better have a loooong scope to mount.
EGW makes a steel 1 piece Weaver base but you will be looking at about $100+. I have an EGW aluminum base for sale for $30 if you want it.... I don't think steel is necessary for a .270.
Remington sells a Talley type ring set for around $50 which is what I ended up using.
