Gramps wants a scope mount for an old savage 110 30-06. Rifle is left handed. No familiarity with the rifle, do I need a specific left handed mount? I've found a couple online that dont specify right or left handed, but he says it needs to be a left handed rail.

Any thoughts?

Lol unfortunately gramps never asks me questions about AR's. My experience with scope mounts for old hunting rifles is minimal :)

I have a Leupold one-piece mount on my Savage 111F and yes, it a right-side mount (they metal is cut away on the right side to allow for ejection). You would need the left-hand version.
Here is what I found in Brownells'

Be sure to order the correct one for the action style of the rifle. Some have a "round back", others a "flat back".

I got a EGW one piece for my Savage but it was rather costly. Am pretty sure my rifle was an older model with the flat back if memory is correct.

Gramps sent a pic. Looks to me like the flat back.

Perfect. Haven't yet been able to source one in Canada, so looks like this will be route to take. Much appreciated!
