scope mount holes No1 Mk III*

have a 1942 No1 MkIII* that i just finished rebuilding. there is another thread on that. what i do have as part of this rifle is three tapped holes, one in the charger bridge and two on top of the front of the receiver above the chamber. I am unfamiliar with scopes and mounts. are these holes for a standard type of scope mount, and would i be able to reuse them? don`t mind the arrows, thats just my inability to use photo bucket

 
If the holes were factory they would have been on the left SIDE of the reciever since the scopes were mounted on the left side. The reasoning of the War office was that it was to enable charger loading! Since when does a sniper rifle need quick reload???
 
No factory D&T'd holes in those spots on any Lee-Enfield. Bubba made holes. They in-line?
John, ya gotta understand how The War Office thought. And nobody ever did or does. Think civil servants. snicker.
