So I baught a 18.5 shorty with dlask brake from Laz and Turf is making me a stock for it. Now I'm thinking about scoping the rifle and have a question. There are a few sidemounting options that have already been discussedat length.

What I'm considering is the ultimak scout rail with an burris intermediate eye relief scope. I've got a scout setup on a built mosin and I like it. What I'm wondering is how the ultimake will work for height with a stock like this:

The KAC mount is little too pricy for me so its eather the Ultimak mount or one of the other side mounters. What do you guys think?

I like the look of the stock. I think I'd want a cheek riser for use with a scope. Is there something made for those m4 (?) type stocks?

I used the scope mount by leatherwood optics. Much cheaper than the 300$ + ones, and solid as a rock. Way better than the B square ones or anything cheaper.

ultimac

I have an ultimac with an aimpoint micro - it coindexes with the iron sights using a G.I. fiberglass stock. The ultimac seems to be the lowest rail you can get for the M14.

cheek riser

So did you find that you needed any sort of cheek riser with the Ultimak?

I didnt need one with an aimpoint micro - if you use the lowest rings available for a long eye relief scope I dont think you will need one. If you use higher rings - go to home hardware and by some pipe wrap , cut a pleasing shape and contact cement it to your stock - $2 cheek riser.

Balance

That scope sure balances out that mag.Boy that long front would put some leverage on things if you dropped or fell on it.

Saves on targets - I use bullet holes as targets :D
24 power shows all the shakes - takes a long time to squeeze the trigger - worth it tho - :sniper::dancingbanana:
