hello gents...
need an advice:
I just got a Rem700 action...with the Ken Farrel scope mount attached...
tried to remove the mount, but one screw is stuck in the receiver...
the mount is bedded to receiver...what could happen - some JB-Weld got in and glued the screw....
QUSTION: HOW TO REMOVE THE SCREW....I don’t want to damage action or the mount....
thanks
regards
Kot

The only suggestion I have is to try some heat. Assuming that this will not cause any damage. I don't think it would. I am not talking about making it red hot. Epoxy glue loses it's grip at about 300 F. At least it did for me.
Just a thought.

I would be inclined to go at it with a heatgun before resorting to a torch.
If the screw is Loc-tited WD-40 will cut Loc-tite, if left soaking for a few hours.

Take if out of the stock and apply a propane torch to the base and heat it up less than soft solder would melt at ...

... that should loosen it.

to sixty9santa: bro, you just picked it up from my brain....
I was going to ask if I can heat the screw with the soldering iron , and your answer is already posted :)
thanks a lot
best regards
will try this tonight :)

My suggestion should all of the above fail is to drill it out. You should mount the rifle in a drill press, do not use a hand drill. It's best to first flatten the screw head. Carefully center punch a dimple dead center of the screw. Use a drill bit that will be small enough to got through the screw but not damage the female thread of the receiver. Drilling a hole through will weaken it enough that it should collapse the threads. If not confident enough, let a machinist or gunsmith do it.

to add t othis use a left hand drill bit *yes it does exist* with the drill on reverse if your lucky the bit will bite into the head and spin out the screw much the same as an easi-out

The standard advice abot applying heat is the way to go; if the screw gets hopelessly buggered, any gunsmith can redrill the holes and tap them to 8-40, which is waay superior to the factory size 6 threads.
