I have a 1976 remington 700 bdl. Iron sights are removed. I mounted a leupold vx3i 2.5-10x40 in talley one piece extra low. Everything was fine with that set up.
I have since moved that leupold to a tikka and put a bushnell 4500 2.5-10x40 on the remington with the same talley's. Only problem is now when i look through the bushnell i see the barrel from 2.5 magnification to 5. Not sure why this is happening. Everything is level and the scope bell isnt touching the barrel.
Do i need to go up to low talley or should i use a rail and rings?
Any help/suggestions on what i should do to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure why you are trying to fix something that t'aint broke?
If the Leupold was working, WITF would you mess with it?

Then again, I'd of pulled the Bushnill and replaced it with the Leupold.

Full moon still owt thar?

I was curious so I Googled. I can't find a Leupold Vx-3i 2.5-10x40 on their website. There's a 3.5-10x40, is that what you meant? I'm guessing the Leupold and Bushnell have different FOV which is causing your "issue".

Yeah sorry my mistake. Its a leupold 3.5-10. From what ive swen in the interweb its not uncommon and the fov of the bushnell is different. Only option is to go with higher mounts. I think ill site it in first and decide if its reallly worth buy new mounts.

Why are you worried about it? The Bushnell has a wider field of view than the Leupold. That will be an advantage when shooting something at close range.

You won't notice it at all when you are concentrating of the target.

I agree with Ted. If you just see the barrel on the edge of the scope view then no big deal. Your focus is elsewhere.
