Been looking at picking up a CZ 455 in 22wmr. However, the description reads a 3/8" dove tail groove for scope mounting? How well does this work on the CZ, because past experience with groove mounted scope rings sucks arse. has anyone drilled and tapped for proper bases?
Anyone with related experience with a CZ, please share!

Just because the descriptions says the grooves are 3/8'' dovetail means that is what they are.
You will still have a 50-50 chance they are 11mm or the 3/8''...and No I have not drilled and tapped for "proper bases as you put it.
I have used the milled dove tails with good results once we/I fitted the dovetail rings.
Your results may vary though.

All of the 455 are 11mm. That is right form cz. No more guessing if its 3.8 or 11mm they are all 11mm. I have the burris rimfire high rings. one side of the claw is 11mm and if you flip it over its for 3/8

Those Weaver bases are the best solution, by far.
However they are long gone, out of production.

Bought a set of J&P phenolic adaptors less than 2 months ago and BKL had a small interruption in production but they are full stocked at DLairgun, so not sure what you are on about.

DIP is currently back-ordered though.

was so excited to take my 452 varmint out to the range for the first time, bought a set of warne rings the day before, even though i had a set of cz rings on order. had no issuies with the dovetail, even though the guy behind the counter swore the dovetail was 3/8ths, not 11mm. you'd think 1/16th of an inch would make a difference.

i have delt with both. its not guessing if you have 3/8th or 11mm cz lables is clearly on their site. the " 3/8ths" dove tail measures 13mm at the widest point. the "11mm" dove tail measures 11mm at the widest point. both measure 3/8th at the bace or 9.52mm. they are cut at diffrent angles as well. 45deg and 65deg. i found that northamerican 3/8th rings you buy around here fit the 11mm better then the 3/8th. not a perfect fit mind you. the top of the CZ 3/8th is too wide for standard 3/8th rings. this is my findings with the CZs i have. i have not tryed every ring out their so their may be some that work on both
