I am looking to resurrect an old(ish) Sako from my dad’s collection. It is a Sako A V. My struggle is that the scope rings and bases which are on it are meant for a short action, and therefore do not allow me to get the scope far enough towards the butt to obtain comfortable eye relief.
I have been shopping for alternative mounting options, and have found out the outrageous prices that the Sako opti-lock system demands.
I am wondering if there is a more affordable alternative without the use of a picatinny rail. The aesthetics of a picatinny isn’t really desirable for this particular rifle.
Any help is appreciated!
