Hey I have a savage 116 with a burris fullfield II 3-9x40 and right now I have to use the high rings because otherwise the scope touches the bases. I saw some dovetail extension rings at wholesale that might allow me to use a smaller ring and if so, has anyone used these? What height?
Thanks.

i have the savage 16fcss with the burris fullfield 2 also but i have talley lightweight rings and they work great!!!

Those might work, but being that the 16 is a short action i don't know if the additional length of my 116 will be to much and the bases may still touch the scope with the low rings.

I just received 3 weaver extra high extension rings for my rifles. I am picky about getting an instant sight picture without having to ride my stock as I do right now with almost all scopes due to lack of eye releif especially at high power settings. Once i change to these I should get the scope clearance and eye relief I need.

I used burris tactical signature bases on my american classic 114, I'll post pics later tonight or tomorrow, have to find them. I have a 3x9 elite 4200 mounted, have to stretch slightly forward to use them, not a lot but enough that I might go with extension rings. I went with burris signature rings, weaver style. I'll post more infor too when I get tiome, it's a bit of an ordeal mounting a scope on these savage long actions if you dont want a one pc base (which I dont because of the looks and the single feed loss...

OK here's a couple pics. The scope-less pic shows the rear base flipped the way I have it now, because having the bolt slide under it will require a bit of sanding to avoid the bolt touching and eventually scuffing the blue on that portion. The scoped pic (top) was with the leupold vx-1 4-12. That scope has plenty of eye relief at hunting magnifications but has since been replaced with the elite 4200, which varies little in eye relief when zoomed it or out, and it's useable but doesnt give that perfectly lined up distance when snapping the rifle up... more to come...
