I put a Tasco 3x9 scope on my High Point carbine today. Its got a very long rail to put on a red dot or any other kind of optic. It also has a Rail under the barrel for a laser light or flash light.

I had a Hi-point 40. Installed a red dot on it. I was able to hit the target more accurately with that, than with the irons, every time. I never had any issues with it holding zero. I miss that thing it was fun as hell. Only rifle I regret selling!

I shoot my .40cal carbine out to 200m quite accurately. Get a scope that has a BDC in it to help reduce holdover.

Maybe try bedding the top picatinny rail to the action?

Use an epoxy like JB Weld to the receiver?

Lots of guns use polymer rails these days, doesn't mean it can't hold zero. But you DO want a solid fit to the action.
