so i bought this bran spanken new Tikka T3 Tactical with muzzel break, i have no idea what kind of optics to get for it.
i was thinking something on the line or IOR, leapoled, or night force ....
any suggestions??

You can't go wrong with any of those makes but I would recommend having a look at the Tasco Super Sniper (built for the US Navy by Tasco).

I have seen this model selling on Gunnutz for around $500 - just make sure it's not a Chinese replica.

See: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=141081

I guess it would depend on what caliber you have but this model would be fine for a 308 caliber.

Any scope will do. Think in terms of a 2.5X to 8X variable and buy it based on the price. Leopold, Bushnell, Weaver, et al. Don't scimp on the mounts.

i have a 300 win mag

What is going to be your main application and at what range?

This caliber is fine for long range target shooting including up to a 1000 yds but any scope that you buy should be suited for the range in terms of magnification and if you happen to shoot at different distances/different wind conditions, you will need target knobs with the appropriate reticule, etc.

On the other hand, if this is going to be mainly a hunting rifle, then your scope needs are going to be quite different.

Also, keep in mind that this is a fairly expensive rifle with good potential accuracy and your scope should suit this package. If it were me, I would be prepared to pay up to $1,000.00 for the right scope but the Tasco Super Sniper at around $500 + with the appropriate magnification would also be quite adequate.

My 2 cents,

If you plan on shooting anything past 300 yds then you will be needing target
turrent knobs The fact that this is a 300 win mag. sugests that you plan on, moose hunting, long range target shooting, or long range varmint shooting.
If it is moose hunting, you didn't need that Tikka T3. Then you must have bought it for long range target/varmint in which case you'll need lots of magnification, rezeroable and reliable movements.
I would pay nothing less than $500 to $1000 for a scope for that rifle and it would be at least a 24x magnification.
Almost always... you get what you pay for.
My 3 cents worth.
