I have a full wood M38 Swedish Mauser, and I'm thinking of adding a scope for hunting Mule Deer this year.

Now is there a method that would still be milsurp, and not be destroying the value, and performance of this rifle?

I'm not looking for a scout option.
Or hacking any wood off.
And I want to retain the ability to use Iron sights quickly in an emergency.
Mount must be able to take a modern scope.
A detachable would be nice.

Ideas? Options? Deals?

without a d&t and without using a scout mount, the only other option is the Iron Elite mount, but I don't know if it's available for the Swede M96. most guys use the S&K EER mount which is a scout type.

I have a full wood 1941 mfg Swede M38 that was D&T for scope mounts. Bought it that way.... I've since taken the Weaver bases off, filled the holes with screws, and just have it to shoot as a mil-surp. Price was right, so I wasn't overly concerned with the D&T thing. I can always put a spare 3-9 Bushnell Trophy I have sitting around with high rings & still use the military safety, if I want to shoot it scoped.
