Is there really an advantage to scoping the Norinco. I see lots of posts about the difficulty of scoping the rifle and I am wondering is it worth the hassle. In the military I shot with peep sights and never felt disadvantaged. Of course I was competing with other folks who were only using peep sights too.

There really isn't any difficulty with scoping the rifle. It has allowances to be scoped. The issue is with cheap scope mounts that do not fit the receivers well. Also keep in mind that some of the earlier receivers had the area where the mount locates ground down. Those are virtually impossible to scope and hold zero.

The chinese bolts also have longer ejector springs so the brass really flies. There may be an issue with clearance on the cheaper mounts that cause the brass to bounce off the scope mount and either back into the receiver or just causing the mount to move.

Ripstop

Ripstop is right. Don't cheap out on a mount.

I am real happy ZI put a scope on my M-305. I finally had a chance to shoot it at 300 yards, and I was very impressed with my little Chinese wonder gun.
