Scope price/comparison...

Been reading threads re 223 for yotes.

Looking at getting a Stevens 200.

Scope thoughts......

Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40

Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40


SIR (cabelas) show $219 for the Bush and $259 for the Leu.

How close to these scopes compare?? Leu worth $40 more??

Any other suggestions in this price range.

Just saw a 4200 3-9x40 for $250.

And a BSA 3-9x40 for $65.

Both new.

I have to agree that the 4200 is the better scope. I own a 3200 in 10x40 and a 4200 in 6-24x50. You can't beat them for their clarity and brightness.

$199 is a very good price. I've seen it for that brand new at one store. But with the dollar exchange you can expect it to go up. Other places I've seen it at $250-300.

I like Leupold scopes. But the Rifleman is not in the same league as the 4200. I would even take a 3200 over the Rifleman.

Go with the 4200.

The Burris Fullfield II would be my choice for a 3-9x 40mm.

I am a Bushnell guy, but my wife has this Burris on her CZ American, and I will say that it is a terrific scope that looks good too.

Problem with the Burris's is that the eye piece doesn't work with flip scope covers, cause the whole eyepiece spins.

My wife is a fair weather hunter, it will not likely even need covers, so I didn't notice that.
That is one of the reasons I chose the 6500, I liked the side focus, never needing to touch the rest of the scope.

Pyd, the whole eyepiece spins for the magnification on the Burris, compared to just the ring on the Bushnell.

Same thing on the Night force scopes. It doesn't really bother me that much.
