Here's a question for ya. On the Nikon web-site they list their scope prices for each model.
The Nikon , Prostaff, 3-9x40 ,RIMFIRE, matte , BDC, 150 is listed at $149.95 msrp .
and the Nikon , P-Rimfire , 2-7x32 , matte, BDC ,150 is listed at $179.95 msrp .
Are these U.S.A. prices only? Are Canadian prices the same? Or should they be? or close?
I went to gunshop to buy one of these two scopes recently. Which ever he happened to have in stock.
He had both , and he had them priced the same. $215.oo + tax.
I told him I'd checked the Nikon website + that the 3-9x40 scope was listed about $30 cheaper than the 2-7 x32.
He just said they'r the same price, But , wouldn't show me a catalogue price to back him up.
Anyways.... $215. + tax is almost $250. , and thats alot different than $149.95 as listed on the Nikon site.
Needless to say I passed on them . It was just alot more than I had expected + it kinda spooked me!

So back to the question. Are our prices here in Canada THAT much more than the manufacturers list prices?
And as far as those two different models both costing the exact same. I don't believe it.
I'm a little frustrated. I wanted to buy a decent , new scope, for a .22 rimfire + pay the going price.
But like I said , there is a big difference between $149.oo and $250.oo.
Any thoughts on this ? Was his pricing close to what it should be? Or was I right to "RUN like Forrest Gump".

OP currently the Nikon Canada website is actually down under re-design so yes you were looking at the US website and their pricing. It will be re-launched sometime in October however I don't have an exact date for you. As far as pricing goes two things to look at; generally in Canada we do have to pay the difference in the currency but beyond that the cross border pricing should be fairly close. However Nikon USA does run completely and separate promotions from us up here in Canada and the US runs on MAP pricing and not MSRP. Its a fairly long and boring process to explain but its to prevent online retailers from putting your favorite gun shop out of business.

I can confirm for you that the suggested MSRP of the P-Rimfire is $219.95 so your local store is a touch under, until September 21st the US is offering a $50 instant rebate. So the actual difference is only $20, which is what the dollar is currently trading at about 10%. Unfortunately we don't have that promo going on up here however our fall promotions should be going live with the launch of our website.

If you have any more questions please feel free to PM me.

I can vouch for the Nikon scopes. I have the prostaff and the inlineXR and love them both. Good value for money. With that said Nikon Canada is definitely gouging the Canadian market a little. The regular price in the US is 179.95 which at today's exchange rates is an even $200. Sorry Travis.

The good news is that Cabela's has the prostaff on sale for 169.99. with about 12 bucks for shipping maybe you can manage it. Your 22 will thank you.
