Scope problem..

Hey all,

Took my m14 to the range today (in -10 and snowing) had a great time, but my the scope is almost all the way to the left, and is all out of vertical adjustment and still hits about 6" low.... Not a clue what to do in this situation. Any ideas? Thanks

What sort of mount and rings are you using? If the mount is properly installed, one option would be to use Burris Signature rings, with the eccentric inserts.
 
Not sure of the the type, I believe the mount is the 89.00 dollar one off of marstar, or at least similiar... I had the gun store mount it all. Is there any adjustment on the mount?

This is butch but free, Here's the free, loosen the mount up and move the rear part of the mount that sits in the stripper clip guide in the direction you need to gain the horizontal adjustment you require and retighten. The butch, try some hard cardboard under the front scope ring as a shim, cereal box or similar should work. Usually though there's a set screw on the front of the mount with a lock screw that will raise it up if you haven't already tried that. I had mine drilled and tapped at the front so the front of the mount won't move at all, I found my zero wandered before that and it definately wasn't my scope. You can pay a little less for a gun, but your doomed from the start if you have a cheap scope.

My scope is definatley cheap! So is my mount. Im a little confused on your solution, could you please clarify? Currently my shots are landing about 6 inches low... and the elevation is maxed out.. Could you specify for the situation?

Your problem is most likely the el-cheapo mount - there have been hundreds of threads on this.
There is a problem with the mounting screw not lining up with the reciever. I made mine work by taking it off, filing down the raised, horizontal part of the mount (mates to the reciever), and slightly enlarging the hole that the mounting screw goes through. I still ended up raising the elevation on the scope to almost max, but it worked!
Couple hundred rounds later I found shooting my scoped M14 boring, so I pulled the scope and have been using the iron sights since (which, BTW, lots of folks have complained about as well). Much more fun and challenging - I was easily plinking pop cans at 100m the other day :cool:
