If I adjust my scope so that the cross hairs are crisp and clear, the image is blurred. If I adjust so the image is in focus, the cross hairs are blurred. Any ideas?

Could be the parallax setting of the scope from the factory...they are most comonly adjusted to 100 yards for rifle scopes..22 or rimfire scopes are adjusted at 50 I believe..meaning that if you try to focus both the target and crosshairs at 100 yards, you'll be fines.

One way to solve this problem is to get a scope with an adjustable Objective lense, that way,you should be able to shoot from 10 yards or so way on out to 300 of further if you want to

What scope do you have, and at what ranger are you trying this at

i would think if the scope can't be adjusted so the reticle and focus are both clear there is a problem. what scope new or used. maybe needs to go back for servicing.

It's a cheap tasco 3X9 rimfire scope at 20 yards.
i think i know the scope you have is it the 24mm model if so toss it straight to the gash bin and go get a better one i had one on my bolt 22 and could not get a consistent POI so got a bushnell rimfire 3-9X32 much better and it holds POI quite well
