Scope problem

I've got a B&L Elite 3000 3-9x40 which I recently installed in Sako Optilocks on a 300WM. This scope has been on this rifle for 8 years, just with different mounts. I guess I didn't tighten the Optilock rings enough because after my last range session the scope had slid forward as far as it could (the magnification ring was pressed up tight against the rear base). I keep the scope on 9x at the range so I didn't notice that it wouldn't budge.

Anyway, I loosened the rings, readjusted the scope and tightened it up. Now when I've got the scope on 3x there's a little black spot on the bottom of the vertical crosshair. If I move the ring slightly (like .5cm) more than 3x, it's gone. It appears to be sitting if front of the crosshairs (ie, closer to the eyepiece) and appears to be a small plastic shaving.

Anyone ever have this issue? Like I mentioned, I've had the scope for 8 years and it hasn't been babied. Do you think it would be worthwhile sending it to Bushnell in this condition?

Thanks!

Oops, can someone move this to Optics, please.

With a 3200 I doubt you'll have any problems. Last time I sent something to Bushnell (binocs) they sent me a new set and upgraded the model. :) Unfortunately, I don't even know if they cover the old B&L products.

Call bushnell, they will tell you to return it , and all will be well :D

Yup, I think you're right. I just got off the phone and told the service person that it had seen 8 years of rough use, I rec'd it as a gift so I have no receipt/registration and that it's a B&L model. She said to send it in and there would be no problems. It has a lifetime warranty and I'm covered. :)

Just get it off ASAP..........so not getting it back for 9 Months:mad: won't interfere with next Year's Hunting season......

I had a much better experience recently. I bought a set of Trophy binos that were damaged in transit. Sent them to Bushnell and two weeks later I had a brand new pair. However, I won't be sending the scope in til after hunting season just in case. ;)

Yes that would be wise.....especially since the "problem?" appears to be only "cosmetic";)
Not bashing Bushnell at all.........but alot of thier "socalled" lifetime warranty dealings I've had and heard of leave alot to be desired.
You do hear of some "Happy customers" once in awhile too though so what the heck:D

I bought a Baush & Lomb Balvar 2.5-10, it had a little parallex I sent it in (to Bushnell)with $10.00 to cover S&H and it came back good as new:D

Yeah, purely cosmetic as far as I can tell...although I'd hate for that little piece of whatever to start moving around...could be kinda distracting. ;)
