Scope problems

I was given an "no name" scope so I decided to throw it onto my Savage Mark II. Now it came with "high" scope rings. I mounted it onto the savage and took a couple test shots at 50 yards and noticed it was shooting way low so I tried raising it using the knobs and finally brought it so I was just hitting the bottom of the target. Problem is that's all the scope has, it won't go any higher. Is this scope hooped or is there something else I can do?

was it new or used when you got it?

i had to make a little shim before 4 rimfire cheep scopes to make them 0 out.

supposedly it was never used. I had a cheap bushnell (that a friend lent me) with low scope rings on the gun first and I could hit a dime at 50 yards easily without any problems.

Try shimming the rear base in .005" increments.

Get a set of Burris rings with inserts. Adjust as required. - dan
