Evening all,

I just picked up a Browning X-Bolt Mountain Pro in .300PRC and I’m a little undecided on scope choice. I’m thinking a Leupold VX-3HD 4.5-14x40 but I’m curious on opinions. As well, that scope comes in 30mm or 1” tube, so more decisions there looking at weight vs strength on a heavy recoil rifle, .300PRC rifle weighing 6.5 pounds).

Rifle’s use will be longer range hunting, (let’s say potentially 700m if the rifle and I get along and I’m confident of an ethical shot).

Scope will be mounted on a Browning X-Bolt Magnum 20MOA rail; not sure of ring choice yet.

Cheers for any feedback!

I'd be more inclined to look at the VX-5 Leupold models.
Better yet I'd probably look at the Zeiss Conquest V4 4.5-14x44 in 30mm tube also. I have one and really like it. Zeiss also has a 3-12x44. Personally I find the scope tracking better on the Zeiss compared to Leupold.
Both available with adjustable turrets if you want.
The 30mm tubes give you more range on your reticle adjustments.

The Zeiss V4 CONQUEST is a 4-16 x44 30.mm SF . Excellent Scopes 👍 RJ

If your shooting up to 700 yards, wouldn’t you want a reliable, dialing, ffp scope?

Don’t think Leupold any of that save maybe an old fixed power mark4

You make a great point. I’ve gone ahead and ordered a Vortex Viper PST Gen2 3-15x44 FFP. Should do the trick…
