I have a browning .270 and looking for a decent scope for it without breaking the bank. I heard Leupolds are good, any criticism? Or suggestions please?
Leupold are good, but certainly on the upper shelf. I’ve had many scopes over the years and found the Bushnell Elite 4200/4500 series the best value for money with the added benefit of Rainguard. Followed closely by Nikon Monarch series. General rule of thumb is to spend the max you can afford on glass.
Ok so after a lot of reading and research, Leupolds are a little pricey. Compared to the Vortex they are not much better if any when going $ for $. Sooo if you had to choose between the Vortexes 3-9x 40 or 4-12x 44 what would you choose? Both are v-plex whatever that means or would you go with the BDC option? Thanks
Vortex is a brand I try to avoid.
Who gives a darn you have a 4-15 power scope and you have to wait ten minutes for the fog from your breath to clear at minus 35 last day of your hunt?
I choose a Leupold fixed 4x33 objective instead.
Pretty sure if your foolish enough to breath on occular or objective lens of your scope at minus 25 its going to fog, wether its a leupold(real or fake) or any other brand!
Try to find the Bushnell Elite series that was partnered up with Bausch and Lomb. At some point they parted ways. If you forego on the Leupold.
Bushnell 3200 4200 are the best scopes for the money, I like a 2-7x32-33 made in Japan, they have good glass, they are light and compact and they are cheep!! Vortex are heavvvvvy and bulllllky! Leupold are great but a bit more pricey, mind you you can find good one at a decent price on the EE!
Humans make mistakes it's in our nature. Nothing wrong with choosing items that can mitigate future issues in the depth of winter.
Often good quality optical coatings will severely shorten your waiting period.
Not sure why you inserted fake Leupold scopes here??
My apologies. I wasn’t aware that a variable power scope stays fogged longer than a fixed power! I’ll have to tell my moose and deer hunting group this. I don’t think any of them know this. I also didn’t realize any company made 4-15 variable powered scopes. I have seen 3-15 and 4-16. Thanks for clearing the fog on this issue
