Have a CZ 527 .223 coming from Frontier Firearms. Looking for a scope now. I will be using it mainly at the range but may get into hunting at some point.

i have an elete 4200 in a 6-24 power on my 223 . it works real well for for me . thanks malcolm

Any Leupold with the LR Duplex reticle, it's very useful on a gun you may varmint hunt with, without being overly 'busy'.

Leupold have one I like with either Duplex or Mil Dot, what is the difference? I'm not a scope guy as you can tell.

You can tell who the poorest poster in this group is. :(

I had a Bushnell Banner 6-24x40mm on my last .223 and it was great. It held zero and had a mil-dot which was kind of nice. I currently have a Banner in 6-18x50mm and I can't complain about it either. I've had a couple of these now on various rifles.

One of these:D

You might try a TASCO 6 - 24 and thereby learning a lot about what you really want.
Since you did not mention a price, this is about as cheap as you can go but it gives you a starting point to use price as a guideline. There was one at the range today and they were shooting one inch groups from a HOWA HB .223

Depends what you intend to hunt with your 223. For varmints such as gophers, prairie dogs, crows, etc, variable to 20X would be minimum IMO. If your quarry is larger critters such as coyote then 12-15X will be fine but I would still lean toward the higher magnification.

I have 2 Leupold 6.5-20X LR scopes, one on my 222, the other on a 22-250 and love them. The side focus is a nice option and IMO Leupold gives the best bang for your money if your budget can handle the price tag. I own 7 and have never had any issues to date.

It depends on if you want a good look at the ground squirrel at 200 yards before you shoot it, or you want a good look at the pieces flying in the air.

If the former, 40X.

If the latter, 10X.

I have a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18 on my CZ527 that is a joy to use. I have a Leupold VXIII on my 30-06 but discovered Nikon afterwards and they are my fave scope currently. Ever wonder why an awful lot of professional photographers use Nikon cameras? Killer optics and a service depot here in Richmond.

I have a 6.5-20 Leupold, great scope. I also have a Nikon 6.5-20. I think the Nikon is more accurate to dial up, the sight picture is about the same on either. buy a quality scope, you only have to buy it once.
