Hey All!

So I was at the range last week with my Armalite AR 50 A1B and on the 13th round of the day I began to notice major changes to my POA/POI. I ran a box test and discover that despite my scope bring rated for up to "1000G" that it had pooped the bed due to recoil/pressure wave or well, whatever.

So now I am looking for a replacement!

My budget is set at under 2k (+ or - reasonable taxable amount) and my criteria (read must haves) are as follows:

- Must have either a 30mm or 34mm tube
- Must have at least 90 MOA total elevation travel
- Must have exposed tactical type turrets (no turret covers)
- Must have the best clarity glass/sight picture possible
- Must be able to withstand sustained 50 BMG usage
- Must be first focal plane
- Must come in an MOA/MOA matching turret/reticle design that allows for ranging
- Must be at least 3-15, 15 (or higher) fixed, or 5-25 (preferred) or higher
- Illumination is not a must but does make a difference
- Fixed magnification is OK but variable is preferred

So far my short list is:

- Burris XTR II 5-25x50
- Leupold Mk4 LR/T 16x40 M1
- Bushnell LRS 6-24 x 50mm
- Leupold Mk4 LR/T 8.5-25x50mm M1
- Vortex Golden Eagle HD 15-60x52 Riflescope - ECR-1 (MOA)
- Nightforce NXS 5.5-22X50 with Zerostop
- Sightron SIII SS 6-24X50 LRFFP/MOA

Let me know what you've put on your '50'!

Cheers,

Teller

I've got about 80 rounds with the Vortex Viper HS 4-16x44 BDC and 30mm Vortex rings

I had about 150 rounds with a 3-9 Leupold but I wanted some more magnification.

I'd pick the NXS, but go with the larger objective...Nightforce NXS 5.5-22X56 with Zerostop. I would actually prefer this to the ATACR for this application...it has a nicer eyebox.
