I'm building a precision target and varmint rifle and I'm looking for a good scope that is within my price range. It's a Remington 700 .22-250 with a varmint barrel in a HS Precision stock from an R5. I'll be mounting the scope on an EGW 0 MOA base. It won't be a long ranger, I've never had to shoot a coyote outside of 200 yards. But I don't want to limit myself to that range, especially when paper punching. Right now I've got a Bushnell 3200 3-9x40. I was looking at the 3200 10x40. What other quality varmint target optics are recommended in this price range?

10x might be too much magnification for close shots if you are calling coyotes.

The Falcon 4-14x 44mm has better glass than the 3200. The ML-16 reticle is very close to the NP-R1 reticles on my NF scopes. I really like that reticle. Plus the scope is FFP so you can range at any magnification.

I put one of these on my Ruger mini 14 target. The idea was some target shooting and maybe some coyotes. I wanted something smaller than a regular target scope with more magnification than a hunting 9x scope. This scope bridged the gap fairly nicely.

The only flaws with the falcon are the tight controls. The side parallax and magnification rings are fairly stiff. I hear that they will get better with use. Also the turrets after sighting in and going to reset them to 0 are sometimes just slightly off. I understand there are new turrets that fix this.

It's a good scope and will do the job. It won't replace the big name stuff but it is very usable even if you are used to the high end scopes and it's a fraction of the cost. It's a fantastic scope for under $400 with good glass, good tracking ability and excellent features.

A bushnell elite 3200 5-15x seems like it would be a perfect fit for you.. From what I've read, many people are happy with this scope.. I realize the quality of optics goes up the higher you get, but is it really worth the 100-400 dollars to get that extra bit of optic quality? Some think so.. and some don't. Up to you.

I looked through a Sightron SI 3-9 and a 3200, the Sightron was alot more clear than the Bushnell. Frontier has them on sale right now for cheap !!!

if your going to stick with the 0 MOA base see if you can swing a falcon.they have a tone of Internal Adjustment.something tells me that the 4-14 ffp would last longer on your rifle(before you want to upgrade)that some of the others.

I just mounted a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 on my Remington Model 700 LVSF .204 and for the money the Vortex is awsome!! Waay better then my previous Elite 4200 6-24x40 and on par with my Leupold Mark 4.
Glass is very crisp and clear, choose your reticle, side focus ect lots of elevation.. Not to mention Vortex has the exact warranty as Leupold regardless of owner and costs near half the price.
