I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction here as I'm new to the scope world. I'm not doing any long discance shooting, and figure the max I'll be shooting is 250-300yards, most taken around and under 100yards. Most will be taken in low light so great light transmission is a must. My Vari-X does this well enough for my current needs.
I've got a Leupold Vari-X-iii 2.5-8x36mm on my Savage 99 .250Savage (came on the rifle whenand it fits the rifle and me perfectly with its eye relief when I should the rifle.
Now, I just picked up a Sako Aiii in .270win, with a 20" barrel and full stock and am looking for a scope for it. It came with the original Sako rings already mounted, which are 1". I picked up a Leupold VX3i 1.75-6x32mm but I can't physically (multiple facial and neck reconstruction surgeries restrict how much I can get "into the rifle") to get my eye close enough to obtain a proper sight picture through it. The long action limits how far back I can bring the front ring to compensate.
There are so many brands and price points, it's getting confusing as hell and am having a difficult time finding info/specs on some of the used ones I see in the EE.
Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
My price range is upto $500, but would go up to $750 for higher end optics and would prefer a lighter weight scope as I won't be always using a bi-pod in a sitting/prone position and would prefer used (usually better bang for my buck).
Thanks in advance
