I was wondering what would be a good set of rings to mount a scope (40 mm front bell) on a Stag Arms Varmint.

Would any Weaver style work or should one look for something very sturdy ?

Thanks

A good set of rings and base or bases is one of the most overlooked components of a set up. I generally run a warne rail and TPS rings on my varmint rifle and on my hunting rifle the same base with leupold PRW rings both a rock solid setup however the PRW rings required lapping.

All of my precision rigs are set up with ATRS rings. Very high quality and once torqued the scope isn't going anywhere.
Same experience here. Not sure why more people don't use them. Wonder why other rings take 4, 6 or more screws per ring to do the same job the ATRS rings do with 2?

I like the Burris Signature line with inserts.
And the Burris XTR with inserts for my tactical bolt actions.
Never any scope marks with the inserts, and can be used with the +1 -10 (or more) inserts to increase/decrease elevation if needed.

Personally I’ve run 2/4/6 screws per
Ring. And i prefer the bigger screw rings because they won’t require as much torque per screw to maintain equal or greater clamping force. The only practical side of things I see there, is less stripped screws if you swap rings a lot. An issue I have personally seen. Maybe I should just use higher quality tools. I have yet to use atrs rings. But have been happy with every other product of theirs I use.

Its is a marketing thing. If 2 screws will do the job many who don't know any better will buy into the myth that 4 or 6 or 8 is better. Thinking that you can never have too much of something when in fact it is the exact opposite.
Another user of ATRS rings. Really well made, brilliantly engineered, Canadian made and reasonably priced.
