Hi all, as the title say's I'm wondering if anyone could help me by recommending what size of ring's I need for my new scope. It's a zeiss conquest 3-9x50. Im mounting it on an Xbolt varmint stalker, if that matters. If any of you could help me out or point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it! Thank you!

Do you currently have a base for your rifle? If so, what type is it? If not, that is the first thing to get.

High end scope bases and rings are available from Near Manufacturing. I don't think they support the Xbolt though. Their Web site is at www.nearmfg.com.

Another maker of high end bases is Ken Farrall, at www.kenfarrell.com. They also do not clearly state that they support the Xbolt model.

You will probably need high rings for use with the Zeiss, it looks like it is a large model. What diameter is it?

Once you decide on a base, it might be easiest to get rings from the same manufacturer. Try a web search on "xbolt scope base".

I have found lately i have been using Burris Zee rings and i have been happy with them. With any sort of bolt gun i need at least a medium height ring (in the burris, i have some weaver grand slams that are quite a bit lower for being "medium") or in one case i needed high rings, not so much for the scope not touching the barrel, but for the bolt to be able to pass by the back end of the scope when you cycle the bolt, so keep it in mind with whatever you get.

Hey, thanks for the reply! I don't have a base for the scope and ring’s, I never thought much of it. How important is it to have base's? Are there any real advantages to it over not having a base? I assumed with the X-bolt having four screws per ring, eight total, it kind of negated needing a sturdier base.

It's a 50mm objective. I'm under the assumption now that the high ring’s is what I'm going to need. I just haven't found any reference point online detailing anyone else using a 50mm scope on a X-Bolt and what size rings they used. Browning does make their own though, any thought on buy from the relate manufacturer or is aftermarket ones usually better? Anyway thanks very much for the feedback guys.

Well I ended up ordering the 1" high rings, .600. They worked great. There is still a few millimeters of space between the objective and the barrel but I suspect now the medium height rings wouldn't have provided enough for a 50mm scope. Anyway, I just thought I would share this for future reference in case anyone else on here is ever looking for insight into this. Thanks to everyone who responded to my original post.
