I got a new Vortex Scope and bought a pair of Vortex's 30mm match rings for the set up.
Switching from a pair of TPS steel ones I had it in.
I put the scope into the rings and used two allen keys to tighten down the top ring evenly on either side, due to Vortexs rings gap they have. I didn't want it rubbing back and forth over the scope as i go from one side of the ring to the other.
I'm very anal about things and tightened them bottom left, top right, and then reversed. I did this last night, this morning when double checking eye relief, i found it was slightly off at max power so i decided to change it, when I undid the rings, I had the finish of the scope pretty much stuck to the inside of the rings.
Did I do something wrong, I did the same exact thing for every scope i've had, and none of them got ring marks, let alone this bad. Am I missing something here?
The front rings have no ring marks or any damage, just the back.
