Working on a project 308 now and I want to build it a Match ready for 300 meters.
I would probably better dedicate one scope for that rig because of a split picatinny. But I never actually had a one piece scope mount, but have a bunch in two rings and this what I got used to.

The new scope mount - tape it or lap it?

Also, Shopping now for a single power >45 scope (minimum 40x), I cannot make up my mind yet which Brand that would be, all remote location to me cannot try.

I really don't understand from where is that coming, but what I read and hear - people routinely shoot 10x but something like a 3-15/18 or 4-20, 5-25 etc is more common for longer ranges.
I have a Falcon X50T on my pellet gun FX Impact using it for 100 meter target shooting.
Me personally I like to see a hole POI, I prefer higher powers.

A fixed 40x might see bullet holes at 300m but that will also depend on the mirage. Something that can be cranked back in heavy mirage days would be a better choice.

I have four >40 and 45 fixed power competition scope models on the paper right beside the computer screen, monitoring all the American classifieds if any would show up second hand. :)

I have a Falcon X50T, and makes the Sightron off the table for that price point. I may pickup one F-class Delta Stryker from EU if nothing comes up within next couple weeks from classifieds.
