Hey all,
After browsing a bunch of different forums I decided that I needed to get a SWFA SS fixed 10x42 scope for a Remington 700 308 Varmint that I want to get, however I was disappointed to find that I can't get that particular scope here in Canada unless I want to go through lots of paperwork. Now there must be a similar quality scope that is available in Canada in the same price range.

What I want is a fixed 10x scope for under $700 including rings and mount. It will mainly just be used just for target shooting out to I'm hoping 1000 yds, but I still want something durable as well. Thanks for everything fellas.

Well for $220-$260 there's the Bushnell 10X40. No parralax adjustment but its not a big deal with 10X mag. Great turrets and glass for the price. For $620 there's the Sightron Siii LR 10X42 with parralax adjustment. Again, great glass and turrets. Mystic Precision sells Sightron and any Bushnell dealer can get you the 10X40. Hit up the EE too, sometimes a deal can be had if you're patient.

Thanks for the help, I'll look into those for sure. The more I look there doesn't appear to be much of a market for fixed 10x scope. I figured by going fixed I'd get a slightly better quality optic for the same price as I would a variable zoom, is this a fairly accurate assumption or should I be looking at variable scopes as well. Thanks for the help fellas, I appreciate it.

I have an older model "Merlin" fixed 10x scope that I would compare very favourably to the SWFA "Super Sniper" (of which I have also had a couple over the years). The Super Sniper is a very robust scope, but tends to lose clarity in lower light (as do many cheaper optics). For range use, however, it was a completely functional optic.

So I was in my local shop today and the only fixed 10x scope they had in stock was a Hawke Sidewinder 30 for 500 bucks. It did have a parallax adjustment. Just wondering what the general consensus is on this scope. Thanks everyone.

You can get a Sightron SIII from Mysticprecision in 10x. I believe they are around $700 range and have 150moa of internal adjustment, fully parallax adjustable with the same mechanism as the SWFA. They are pretty much the same scope but I believe the glass is a lot better than the base SWFA models.

Here's a +1 for the Bushnell 10x, great little scope for the money. Japanese-made, mil-dot reticle, huge target turrets, and impressively decent glass given the price point. What's not to like?

Make sure to get the newer Elite Tactical model over the older Elite 3200 as they've got the newer Rainguard coating on the lenses. They can be had new off Amazon.ca for something like $260 and change. I picked one up in the EE a month ago, NIB with rings, for $225 shipped.

Check out Falcon optics. Tons of positive reviews and some even say they prefer it to the swfa. Comes with the side focus knob witch apparently is a $100 option on the ss. Frontier Firearms carries them. $309 for the 10x42.

I have a Falcon Menace 4-14x44 and it is a great scope. I got my from Frontier Firearms for 350$. You will be pleased with this scope it is a FFP also so no need to get a fixed mag to use a ranging reticle.
