Hello!

recently I purchased a Vortex 3-9-50 and Ive been having a terrible time finding rings that will work on an AR10 platform.. No rings seem to be high enough for the 50mm objective.

After going to multiple stores I found one pair of cheap-o rings, and after successfully installing them, torquing them, and a few test fires I noticed the scope was sliding.

What does everyone do to prevent this? I had the screws torqued to the proper Lbs... Should I try loctite? super glue?

Would it be a dumb idea to maybe put a tack of glue on the inside of the rings? Would that even work?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I tried the cantilever, didn’t work :(

I also emailed Vortex to see if they could help me make a set of their pro rings work cause I really liked them.

The only other option I’ve found so far was Burris rings. Has anyone had any experiences with these?

How did the cantilever mount “not work”?

Update! I just received an email from Vortex, and was advised to get the cantilever mount with 3 inch offset. I was told this will provide sufficient space for mounting scopes with large objectives. I can tell you from experience the 2 inch will not work. Most stores don’t stock the 3 inch apparently as I was advised I’d likely have to order it in.

The amount of offset has nothing to do with the objective size of the scope. Standard AR15 height rings are about 1.4-1.5” high, which Is plenty high enough to clear almost any scope, especially a 50mm. AR10 platforms also have lots of rail room, usually meaning that no offset is required and regular rings can be used without issue.
