Scope suggestion for a hard usage rimfire

Okay, I'm building a truck gun out of a winchester wildcat varmint. I'm looking for a 50 yard parrallax or AO. Objective no bigger than 40mm, and length under 12". Magnification 3-12 or similar. Most important, something that is compact and will stand up to abuse. I would also like to keep it under $500. I am kind of leaning towards a Leupold vxII.
Any suggestions?
 
I have a 2-7x33 vxI shotgun scope on my truck .22. It has parallax at 75 yds but the lower power makes parallax a non issue. It has been a great scope and that rifle has been used and abused. You can also get the vx-II 3-9X33 rimfire scope with the A.O. I found with A.o. scopes on my .22's I'm always messing with it, gopher at 15yds, gopher at 50yds, gopher at 25 yds, I have to adjust it all the time. With the 2-7 I just point and shoot, crank the power down for the real close ones. Korth can set parallax on most leupolds to 50yds for you also.

Adjustable objective will allow you to use it at any yardage, 32mm objective is appropriate for a .22, and the scope is about as compact as it gets. Burris has a decent reputation, and a .22 should be a walk in the park for this puppy. Pricing seems to be right in around the $200 mark, give or take.

Note: I've tried a Leupold FX-II in both 4x and 6x on my own .22. Because the parallax is set for out past 100 yds, from 25 to 50 yds things tend to be just a slight bit fuzzy.
