Scope Suggestions

I like fixed power scopes and especially the Leupold M8 4x as it has good eye relief and is light in weight. The duplex reticule is my preference for hunting rifles.

Scopes vary so much in price, its hard to make a recommendation without knowing a budget. If you are shooting a sporterized enfield, I'll make the assumption you don't want to spend more than a couple hundred on a scope. Running with that theme, I'd say a Burris Fullfield II, A Bushnell Elite 3-9x40, a Redfield Revolution or a Leupold VXI or Leupold Rifleman. All can be had for under $250.00 and give good value.

3-9 Bushnell from Banner (low end) to Trophy XLT (mid) to Elite will do. Depends on your budget. My son used a $60 Tasco on his Remington 700 for a few years till he saved up for a scope that is worth more than the gun.

Generally speaking, it is easy to spend 2-5X what you spend on a rifle on a scope for it. It is all about what you are comfortable spending.

Just make sure that the rifle shoots well before you go to the expense of mounting a scope. I have drilled and tapped a few rifles that no matter what was done, did not shoot better than a shotgun, due to corrosive ammo.
A Bushnell Elite 3200 is a good starting point for a scope.

For an Enfield I would go with a 2x-7x variable or 4x fixed power in your budget. You might also want to reconsider putting on a scope worth 5x your rifles value. Swapping the scope around between firearms may seem like a good idea to save some $$$, but you need to realize you will only ever have one rifle sighted in at any given time.

Very good point, but this has caused me to think that's what I should be doing! So I would have to sight in my rifles more often, requiring me to reload more, or should I say ALLOW me to reload more! I could also use it as an excuse to develop a new load for each rifle every time I swap the scope! Lol
