So I finally got a ARMS 18 mount for my Nork M-14 (2007 vintage).

Just for S'n'G I mounted up a cheap Tasco varmiter scope on it. 2.5-10x40. It literally lasted 8 rounds, then crapola! Off to tasco for warrenty (they are sending me a new rimfire scope no q's asked).

So I then take a Bushnell 4x32 scpoe off my slug gun. Now this scope has been on the shotty for 3 yrs and has seen between 50 or 60 rnds of 3" mag slugs..... It always worked on the slug gun. So was I surprised when it crapped out after 50 rnds of 308! I thought for sure that scope would hold up!

So now I have 2 scopes that were fine and that aren't any longer. Both have been sent off for warrenty, one is being replaced, still no word on the other.

So what can take the banging from a M-14 for less than $400?

Cheers!

I also went through 2 scopes with my m305, i am now going to try vortex strikefire (red dot), i emailed vortex to ask if the strikefire or sparc would be up to the job on the m305 and was told by vortex that they should be fine.

I have read the bushnell 3200 10X40 is ok on the m305 but i have not tried.

my 2 scopes (1 cheap $100, 1 $350 scope) where no match for the m305, i think they call it the scope killer in some places.

I am using a redfield 2-7 on mine about 300rnds so far and no problems big plus backed by luepold for warranty if something does go wrong.

my $350 mtc tiapan lasted about 400 rounds and then started to go all over the place, it was rated to .308 so assumed it would work but thats before i started to read about the scope issues with m305.

I would like to get scope, i hear the vortex vipers are good, one of the guys at vortex used them on his m1a but they cost $750 in Canada.

When I used to have a scope on my M305 I glued a thin strip of stiff black sponge foam (packaging off some thing) to the bottom of my Madsen (Springfield copy mount) mount and no problems holding zero with a Bushnell Trophy 6-18.

The same mount prior to the foam killed a Leapers 6-24 (lens went sideways)

Take a look at the bottom end of the scope mount near the breach. I had some serious dings on mine prior to the foam.

Vortex Viper line or higher.
Leoplud VX-III or higher.
Ziess, S&B and all other high end scopes.
Nikon Monarch or better.
Any Trijicon.
These are the scopes I have either used or shot threw this rifle system that have work and I have not noticed any issues with.

Just throw some NM sights on it and be done with it. Was never meant to be scoped in the first place.

i've had a bushnell trophy 3-9X40 on my norc for about 10 yrs , thousands of rounds and numerous deer hunting trips as well.. it hasn't budged.. i paid 165 bucks for it new.. i think they're still around the same price.

I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 on my M14 now. It has only had 40 rounds through it with the scope on so far, but I have had no problems as of yet. You can tell that it is a quality piece of glass, I am not worried at all about it breaking.

I am not sure what ranges you are using your m14 at, but the 10x has allowed me to slap gophers at 150-200 yards. I plan to push it out even farther once I get used to it a bit more.

Two thumbs up from me.

I'm just waiting to get a full time job to start justifying gun purchases again. I got the scope, rings and now just need the mount :D Glad to know the Bushnell 10x40 I got will do the job nicely.

bushnell elite 3200 10x40 on my norc 2007 m14s
paid 230 for it at wholesale sports. just like what gideon says it works great.

the new shockproof leaper are marketed on m1a. There marketing flyer always show them on an m1a. 3x-12x variable paralax swat.

I bougth it and 50 rnds later it still perfect.

Have you checked the mount it may not be the scope but the mount moveing. I had issues with my ARMS # 18 mount.

I pretty much ruled out the mount after I checked the scope. After I removed the scope from the rifle I gave it a shake, you can actually hear stuff moving around in the scope.....

I guess I'll give the mount a check this weekend.
