Hi all, I normally play on the MBR forum but a change is as good as a rest eh.
I have a problem and you guys might be the ones to ask.
I know you get what you pay for so the scope failure is no surprise but Im curious as to what the problem may be and what caused it.
To my undying shame I have a NC star 6-24x50 mildot and until today it has performed very well indeed for the price. I have always had a clear sharp image throught out its full range and the parralax worked well.Today after some 30 rounds the image just went soft and blurry at all ranges. This happened after firing the gun at a clear image, whilst holding on target I noticed the change in image but thought it must be my eyes.
Sadly this is not the case, I cant get it to focus at all.
Should I call TOD or is it fixable. Its under warranty so Im asking really to satisfy my own curiosity.
Many thanks for takin the time to read this....and no I wont be getting another NC star, unless they send me a replacement.

Almost forgot. The scope is on a Norc 305 and was shooting 150 gr. 2 weeks ago the gun was getting 2inch groups at 200 yds. I have the gas turned off so I have to work the bolt by hand, I apprecaite this calibre is some hard on scopes in semi auto.
 
The problems associated with NC Star seem to be pretty common, so the question isn't "if" but "when" it will fail.
For that reason alone, it's not worth a dime, as you say. You can get a good scope for $200-$300 in a new Redfield or Bushnell Elite. Lightyears ahead of NCStar.
 
Your a mind reader mate I was just looking at Redfield and Bushnell...not that much more and far superior ..Somehow I always thought those brands were up in the $800+ bracket...was I surprised :) Just hope they can stand up to the 308 on single shot and occasionally on semi. If they exchange it for a new one I'll sell it off and get a proper scope. Like you say..its gonna happen again.

Get one of the 10x 3200's. They are pretty durable, I ran one on a 300 RUM for a while with no issues. As to the NC scopes, I (and a few friends) have worked in China quite a bit, and we used to buy them there in the market for $20-40. At that price they worked fine until they died (and they all died eventually, though some took a few years to do it) and we just tossed them. - dan
