This is the closure tread to the one I did in February about my minox scope.

I recive my first minox scope in February I think , a minox za5 1.5-8x32. Went to the range once after 30 round the occular was loose. I then contacted the Canadian rep for minox, he gave me great customer service. Got my second one, it was dead on arrival same problem! Got a third one from him, it was tight out the box. I install it on the rifle after I showed it to my dad and show him how it was tight... well it came loose in my hand.

I then contacted minox usa. Talked to Mr Clark, a real genuine good guy got awesome service frome him. Got my fourth one that he assured he personally verified and it was good.... same result, tightnout the box came loose after I played with the occular wen it was on the rifle. So first one shot 30 rounds with number 2, 3, 4, no shot doa.

So I was about to quite and I saw this very nice minox 2-10x50 with a red dot, it was 699 $ instead of 489 $. He agreed to upgrade me for free!! Well I recive it yesterday, a very nice scope but really hard ti focus pass 7x. So it seem tight I said what the hell il bring it to the range. So I mounted it to my rfb ; remember its 308 with a muzzle brake and its very soft shooting.

Well after 14 round guess what? The occular is now loose has hell! So number five is dead.

So I will be asking a refund and getting a nikon prostaff 5 2.5-10x40. In the mine time I bought a nice burris e1 3-9x40

This is a sad tale. On paper that 1.5-8x32 looks like a fantastic hunting scope. Thanks for the warning.

I have a Minox 8x32 binocular that I purchased a number of years ago. The first one had problems right out of the box, and was replaced by the retailer promptly, no questions asked. The replacement has served and held up well as my principle hunting binocular and has withstood more than its share of falls, immersions and hard knocks...looks like crap now, but still sharp, clear and easily focussed. I dismissed the first one as a fluke and would have bought a scope from them. Glad I read this thread. I hope you have better luck with your next purchase.

Wow...... I guess kismet was on my side as I tried to purchase, on two separate occasions, a Minox ZA5 3-15 hunting scope.

The first one got refunded due to the retailer finding a problem with the reticle (not sure if the same ocular problem occured) and the 2nd retailer never got back to me so I ended up buying a Nikon Prostaff 4-12 from a local store.

From Minox site:

MINOX ZA riflescopes are designed in Germany and assembled in the USA. Guess we have to get China or Japan made scopes to get any kind of quality now.

If I remem correctly the glass is from Germany and there is some part from china and its assemble in the U.S.

It really to bad cause on paper and in practice the 1.5-8x32 was awsome . @ 1.5 it felt like a red dot and you could push it to 8x, the zero reset turrets were and the best part is the customer service from ,sorry I forgot his name, Mr canadian distributor and Mr. Clark from minox usa, even there customer service in Germany was really fast to forward my complaint to mr. Clark in the U.S.

I truly wish it had workout, as shown by the fact that I lasted till the fifth bad units until I call it quit.

i guess i'm the lucky one. i have a 1.5x8 and two 3x9 minox. no issues. the 1.5x8 recides on a lightweight 338 06 and the 3x9's on larger mags. makes me think about buying another.

How is your occulars? Do they have some play in them? Me they were tight and after 20 some round they were realy loose.

Well I just got of the phone with Mr. Clark and he will be issuing me a full refund via my credit card and sending me return label for the 3 scopes.

For those still interested in minox, I was infor that they will have a redesign coming late summer early fall that is suppose to take care of those problems.

Unfortunately I got caught up in this mess as well. Occular movment up down side to side on a 2x10x50 z5. Scope is off now and sent to Minox for repair/replacement. Sure hope i get the redesigned model! Will let you know how it goes.

my oculars move smoothly with no apparent play. they have been run on hard kickers with no issues. i'm guessing i got lucky.

After 5 dud I'm done for now. I would not get my hope's up until the new one this fall

Warrantee update.
I received my minox 2x10 back in good order. Occular feels solid and mounted it on my 260 for this fall. Sighted in and practiced 40 rds at various ranges to get comfortable with multi range rectical. Overall impression is still a very good scope for the money. Clarity and colour is very good. A minor haze around the edges noted but not of concern to me.

Also must give cudos to Greg at Minox for outstanding service and communications. They take care of their customer and that is what counts in my books. Now we will see how it packs and performs this season.
Elky....7 days and counting........

Anymore update on the Minox?

Looking for Christmas gift for myself and really want another Zeiss but the Minox cost much less so any feedback will be much appreciated!
