Scope with most focus adjustment

Hi again folks.

I'm wondering which scopes offer the most adjustment for focus. Are there brands that have a greater level of adjustment? Would a variable power scope offer more focus adjustment? Would a variable with a greater spread between min zoom and max zoom offer more focus adjustment than a variable power scope with a lesser zoom spread?


My dad's eyes aren't what they used to be. The focus on his current scope (bushnell somethingorother) is maxed out for focus. It was enough adjustment a few years ago, but I can really see him straining lately. I'd like to find him something that will allow him to shoot more comfortably.

He has reading glasses, but won't wear them while hunting.

So your father can see far but not close?

So the image focus is blurry? or is the reticle blurry but image ok?

or a little of both?

I don't know the specific scope you have but I have found that the 'european' style scopes that have a a speed focus ocular (with two dots to establish center of focus) seem to provide me with better opportunity/range to get a proper image of reticle and target than the older threaded tube and lock ring approach that many scopes use...don't know why exactly but my experience fwiw
