Hello all,

Just bought an air rifle, Crossman Quest 1000X (1000 Fps), the scope came with it which is pretty ####ty. Canadian Tire and Wal-Mart scope looks pretty good, but have no idea what should I get for an air rifle.

What type/kind of scope I should get? What specific size?
Any brands you recommend?

Thanks

Due to the way an air rifle recoils it can damage a regular scope so you need one that is air rifle rated. I have one made by Hawke on my PCP rifle and it's pretty good.

Hit the airgun forums and have a look around.

Depending on your budget, and what you want to do with it, you could be looking at almost anything.

Low end. Look at the BSA "Sweet" series scopes, Bushnell, etc. Want to snipe grasshoppers across the lot, look for one of the side focus rangefinder scopes (budget $800 or so...) .

Anyways. There are lots of choices. Gotta figure out your wants and needs to narrow them down.

Whatever you get, make sure that it says that it is air rifle rated on the box or in the specs. Lots of really high dollar scopes have been trashed by a cheesy little old air rifle. The recoil is different from a firearm, and has to be taken into account.

Well, if you are looking at Wally World or CTire, you are looking at Bushnell, most probably.

Shop the sales, never pay full retail. :)

You should be able to get a 3x9 for that kind of budget, and when you have long since been done with the air rifle, you can plant it onto a .22.

Checked out the Canadian Airguns Forum? Just google for "airgun forum", and there are lots out there.

For the range you will be able to reach out to, with a air rifle, you won't really see much gain in the high end optics.

Lots of choices out there for $100 or less.

I found out thru experience that spring powered air rifles do weird things to scopes, gave up trying to get one not to fall off after every few rounds.

I've used one of these on a couple of Gamo's (high powered) without issue for several years or more. Nice piece. Built for air rifles.

Leaper's bugbuster 6x D+L in BC.Mine is a 3x9x40 IR mil-dot but it's on a $500+ Wiehrauch.The leapers start at $50 for a fixed 4X I put a cheap BSA on a CZ630 and it's held up.No point in putting a Leupold on a Crossman.And go 1" scope not the cheap 3/4" ..........Harold
