Scopes- Which one to get?

My bro just topped his 7mm with a new leupie 2.5-8 * 36 with the boone and crocket.
it's a great scope - it's everything you could want for hunting medium size to large animals (yotes and up) at any normal practical hunting ranges, including close in and far away. Excellent low light performance, which you'd expect.
Leupie's warrenty work is insanely good.

schmidt & bender makes a great scope, in a good price range as well, have shot the fixed 10x with mill-dot and was very impressed. Nicest scope I've seen in a while is a nightforce optics, I especially liked the way they have their mill-dot set up. I personally will never buy another Leupold (terrible service experience) but have heard good things about burris.

Zeiss handles repairs in Toronto... I believe they go back to Germany for the actual repair ... mine was quick and free. I own many manufacturers scopes - including Zeiss, Swarovski, S&B, Leupold, B&L, etc etc. ....Leupold are overrated. AP
It's got a fast focus with that locking ring - it's possible someone else might want more from it but i've never had to play with the focus much once it's set on most scopes. But then i do pretty simple shooting .. 'there's an animal bang.'

A scope for hunting
I have a couple of Leopold II and III and a Zeiss Conquest while both of these makes are excellent I have to say that if I was to buy another scope it would be a Bushnell 4200 series with fog and rain guard. I put one on my 25-06 last year and put it to the test this year hunting. I find the optics clear, and in the past Busnell service has been good and they are in Canada. But what impressed me the most was the lens coatings. The rain guard works The one deer I shot this year was after spending a couple of hours in rain soaked bush and eveytime I looked through that scope I couldn't beleive the rain did not effect my sight picture. So when the oppertunity presented its self the deer was droped with one quick off hand shot in pouring rain. Any other scope I own I would have had to take of lens covers or look through foggy destorted sight picture. So if its a hunting scope my money is on Bushnell.

Both are good scopes if you can do a side by side comparison that would be the way to choose, what looks best to you! The best warranty in the world means nothing if you don't like the view through the scope. Price wise they are not far apart. The reccomendation for the 4200 is also a good one and may be the best bang for the buck. But from the two you mentioned the Zeiss Conquest 3-9x is a very good scope with top optics, compare for yourself.

Optics are excellent today, any fair amount of cash will get you a good one. I use Leupold 6x, 1.5 x 6 , 1.75 x 6 , burris 2x8 , 1.5 x 6 , and B&L , and SS.
Of all those the Burris Signature seems to have the most field of view or whatever , i never checked numbers , but when you look through it wow, pretty cool. It must be the 40% more glass inside which they claim.
An odd ball scope I got is a made in China mil spec 3x9 x42 30mm tube. It allows me to see deeper into a snow squall than Leupold set on the same power. Now this may be because of the 30 mm tube , but this scope was a prototype and has many coatings on the lenses, and on the tube body its like the high end stuff,very tough finish. So I figure they are all great. More important is the ring/mounts to keep that scope in place during the rough going.
