Optics are excellent today, any fair amount of cash will get you a good one. I use Leupold 6x, 1.5 x 6 , 1.75 x 6 , burris 2x8 , 1.5 x 6 , and B&L , and SS.
Of all those the Burris Signature seems to have the most field of view or whatever , i never checked numbers , but when you look through it wow, pretty cool. It must be the 40% more glass inside which they claim.
An odd ball scope I got is a made in China mil spec 3x9 x42 30mm tube. It allows me to see deeper into a snow squall than Leupold set on the same power. Now this may be because of the 30 mm tube , but this scope was a prototype and has many coatings on the lenses, and on the tube body its like the high end stuff,very tough finish. So I figure they are all great. More important is the ring/mounts to keep that scope in place during the rough going.
